Yves Saint Laurent found inspiration and a sunny recess in Marrakech in the mid 1960's after procuring a home in the Medina. The designers home has been an exotic fantasy for numerous decades, exquisitely decorated in traditional Moroccan elements, he shared this home with Pierre Bergé and together they often hosted Betty Catroux and Loulou de la Falaise as well as the glitterati of the time. Laurent revisited his villa in the Medina when he was designing new collections, bringing traditional Berber styles onto the Paris runways on several occasions.

Laurent's long love affair with Morocco has left a mark in the YSL story and now in a new beauty collection:

Presently, the exalted and rare Saffron flower (specifically the pistils) of the Atlas Mountains has been employed for its ani-aging and anti-inflammatory properties in a new beauty line called Or Rouge - "red gold". Or Rouge will reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve elasticity to the skin and minimize pores.

This lavish cream will be available in the US in March and abroad soon after.

Pricing is $400 for the 1.7 oz. face cream, $225 for the .5 oz. eye cream.
